The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Relations) was founded on 1st September 2007, in correlated with the creation of the new position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Relations) to spearhead the functions of the university’s industry and community relations.
The establishment of the Office is in line with the government’s decision to turn several public universities into Research University (RU), thus the new created portfolio will be responsible to support the RU’s mission in terms of extension of knowledge and technologies across to the Industry and Community.
However, before the establishment of this Office, collaboration with the industry and community at UPM has long been in existence initiated by the Faculties, Institutes and Centers.
University Community Transformation Center (UCTC)
University Community Transformation Center (UCTC), previously known as Professional Advancement, Entrepreneurial and Development Centre (APEEC), established in January 2007. APEEC has been re-named as UCTC on 14 March 2013 an effort to rebrand the functions of UCTC to transform the community through transfer of knowledge and technology activities in line with the instruction by the Ministry of Higher Learning. UCTC is a one-stop center that provides various services to the community. UCTC UPM been launched in conjunction with the launch UCTC national level on 30 November 2014 at the Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PKKSSAAS), UPM by Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Education II.
Centre of Industry Relations and Network(CiRNeT)
Centre of Industry Relations and Network (CiRNeT) was established on 16 March 2012 as a result of the merging of Industry Relations Unit and Industry Network Unit under the Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Relations) which then had been upgraded to a Centre.
