7th December 2016, Putrajaya – The ‘Association Of Southeast Asian Institutions Of Higher Learning’ (ASAIHL) Conference 2016 organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was successfully held on 4 to 6 December 2016 located at the Le Meridien Hotel, Putrajaya. The conference highlights “Open Education Without Border”’ as the main theme and invited four key speaker which is YB Dato 'Seri Idris Jusoh Bin (Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia), Dr. Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta (former President of Timor Leste), Professor Tan Sri Dato 'Dzulkifli Abdul Razak (Former ASAIHL President 2007-2008) and Professor Dr. Alexandre Ardichvili (Professor, University of Minnesota).

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching. Also present were Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which also ASAIHL President 2016, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris; ASAIHL Secretary General, Dr. Ninnat Olanvoravuth and former president of Timor Leste, Dr Jose Ramos-Horta.

The Association of Southeast Asian Institution of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) board meeting also was held at 4th December 2016 at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
